Online casino Ireland: a guide built on withdrawals, not promises

Five sites, tested with funded accounts, written up including the parts we did not like.

Ireland finally has a gambling regulator

For most of the last century Irish gambling was governed by statutes written before the internet existed, with no single body responsible for the online market. The Gambling Regulation Act 2024 changed that, creating the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland in 2025 with licensing powers over betting, gaming and lotteries.

It also restricts the thing every comparison site in this country currently sells: inducements. Free bets, targeted offers and VIP schemes are being reined in. If you are choosing a casino on the strength of its welcome bonus, you are choosing on the feature most likely to change — which is why our ranking puts it after the lobby, the cashier and the sign-up. The detail is on gambling regulation in Ireland.

What we did, and what we did not

We opened five accounts, deposited, played and withdrew — then withdrew again over following weeks to see whether the first result was representative. That is the whole method, and it is deliberately boring: there is no way to know how a casino pays without letting it pay.

We did not phone support with invented problems or time page loads with a stopwatch. Those appear in reviews and rarely describe a real evening.

The one Irish advantage worth stating plainly

Winnings are not taxed in your hands here. Betting duty falls on operators on turnover, not on players on what they win. In several European markets the equivalent decision starts with a tax calculation per operator per year; here it does not, and that makes the choice a simpler one than it looks elsewhere.

Three questions and you have your answer

Live tables or slots? A big first-deposit match, or as little as possible to play through? A quick sign-up, or everything done at once? Three answers point at one row in the table above. The five are ranked, with codes and a side-by-side table, on best online casino Ireland 2026, and the offers themselves are unpicked on casino bonus Ireland. If you came from Betfair or Paddy Power, start with the Betfair alternatives or Paddy Power alternatives.

Before the first deposit, wherever you play

  1. Verify the account the evening you open it: photo ID, a proof of address under three months old, and proof of your payment method. It is the step that dominates a first withdrawal when it is left until later.
  2. Set a deposit limit in the cashier before you play, not after a bad night.
  3. Decide whether you want the welcome offer at all. Offers are opt-in at all five sites, and an account with no bonus has nothing restricting a withdrawal.

Where to go from here

Each guide on this site answers one question properly rather than ten badly. Deposits and withdrawals maps the five stages of a payout and who controls each. Online slots covers the two numbers that decide a game, and live casino explains why the table matters more than the site. Jackpot slots and big wins deal with the large prizes and what happens after one. Tempted by a site nobody you know has used? New online casinos in Ireland sets out the checks to run first. If you already have an account with one of the big Irish bookmakers — bet365, William Hill, Betway or the others — the comparisons start with what they do better, and the reviews include who each of our five does not suit.

Games, studios and licences

The thirteen games Irish players ask about most, from Big Bass Bonanza to Aviator, each have a page under popular casino games. The studios behind them are profiled on game providers, and casino licences explains the GRAI, the UK Gambling Commission, Malta and Curaçao from a player's side.

Two more guides answer questions readers ask us most: playing on a phone in Ireland, from installing the app to live tables on mobile data, and paying in euro by card, Revolut or crypto without hidden conversions.
